Robotics
New to MCDS in 2022-23, the Robotics Club will work together to build an industrial-size robot to play a field game with strict rules and compete in a FIRST robotics competition in Milwaukee in 2023.
Forensics
Competing in the Speech and Debate Categories, the MCDS Forensics Team will be launching in the 2022-23 school year to compete against teams around the state of Wisconsin.
Student Government
Student-led organization working with faculty and peers to support student needs and lobby for positive changes suggested by the student body.
Student Life
Student-led organization promoting social life by planning school spirit activities, social events, dances, and holiday celebrations.
Model UN
A simulated exercise of the United Nations where students assume the identities of delegates from specific nations and advocate for their nation’s interests at a mock conference (1-2 per year) with other high schools from around the U.S. and the world.
Prairie Magazine
Student-run literary journal (published twice/school year) featuring creative fiction, nonfiction, poetry, editorials, and book reviews
Prairie Hawk Investing
Student-run organization that participates in the Wharton Global High School Investment Competition, where they compete against other high schools around the world in investment strategy and analysis.
Science Olympiad
Students prepare for and compete with their peers in various events that are grounded in all scientific disciplines.
Community Service
Helping the community during the pandemic. Students volunteer monthly to package food at Second Harvest, distribute food through the Sunshine Supper Meal Program in Sun Prairie, or correspond with residents at the Meadowmere Retirement Home.
Japan Bowl
Students participate in the Wisconsin Japan Bowl in February for the chance to qualify for the National Japan Bowl in Washington D.C that takes place in April. Student teams of 2-3 answer questions related to Japanese language and culture. Practices are arranged with Breun sensei and/or done individually using the study guide.
Computer Science Club
Starting ’21-’22: The purpose of the computer science club is to spark interest in the field of computer science and its applications to MCDS high school students of all backgrounds and skill levels. In addition, the club will provide the resources and background knowledge for students to be able to pursue their interest in computer science outside of the club.
Ecuador or Spain Trip
A trip for HS Spanish students to a Spanish-speaking country. This year the trip is to the Galapagos Islands, and highlands. Visit Quito, Mindo, Otavalo and Galapagos. The trip will be for about 11 days in the summer of 2023.
Japan Trip
Anticipated travel to Japan where e will visit our sister school, Hakuoh and explore the cities of Tokyo, Kyoto and possibly Hiroshima.
Students of Color Affinity Group (SOCAG)
Student of Color Affinity Group (SOCAG) is a social group for high school students of color. In SOCAG, students have the chance to discuss their experiences at MCDS and get to know other students of color.
Social Activism and Awareness (SAA)
Social Activism and Awareness (SAA) addresses a variety of important social and political issues through social media, events, and projects.
Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA)
HOSA is specifically for students who want to pursue a career in the healthcare industry. It prepares students for healthcare careers and students get to share/test their knowledge through the competitions and tournaments.
Sexuality And Gender Equality

The MCDS Mini-Mester program provides authentic experiential education opportunities where each IB learner becomes an empathetic and globally minded-leader.
Jazz Combo-The Yeah Men
Jazz combo meets for an hour every Friday. All members actively participate in group meetings and play at jazz events (usually at school). Jazz experience is not needed. Audition required for club membership.

In the student-led Dungeons & Dragons club, players enjoy the game that focuses on storytelling and embarking on epic quests that inspire the imagination and laughter along the way.
Fall Play-Theatre
Student Mentors for Mental Health
This club is great for people in grades 10, 11, and 12 who want to be mentors for other high school students, and mental health advocates. Mentors may assist mentees with mental health, learning differences, time management, academic/ib, advice, etc. Good qualities of a mentor are non-judgemental, empathetic, and good listeners.
